The two celebrities shared the stage, squashing rumours that they were on bad terms with each other
Taiwanese singer Jay Chou’s The Era World Tour came to a close on Dec 18, at the Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan.
Known for surprising his audience, Jay had invited former flame Jolin Tsai to perform with him in Taipei last year. This year, the singer shocked his fans again, when Hong Kong singer-actor Nicholas Tse made a guest appearance at his concert.
Jay and Nicholas first met when they acted in movie The Viral Factor. However, Nicholas was going through a divorce with his ex-wife Cecilia then, resulting in him being the focus of media attention and stealing the limelight from Jay.
Nicholas reportedly made Jay unhappy when he did not join in the promotions of the movie because he had few scenes in the film
Nicholas’ appearance at Jay’s concert last Sunday clearly suggested all was well between the two.
During the opening of the concert, a LED ball opened up slowly and Nicholas — decked in leather jacket and a pair of sunglasses — appeared on stage with a guitar, performing the song ‘Exclamation Mark’.
Fans initially thought they had seen the wrong person, only to go wild when Jay appeared with a keyboard, sharing a duet with Nicholas.
Nearing the end of the concert, the crowd was treated to more surprises as Jay sang Nicholas’ popular song ‘Old Wound’. Nicholas then appeared on stage, performing Jay’s song ‘Silence’.
“Thank you to Nicholas for supporting me,” Jay said.
Nicholas replied, “It’s been seven and a half years since I came to Kaohsiung. I also stopped playing the guitar after I broke my finger five to six years ago. It’s all for you this time.”
In other related news, Jay’s rumoured girlfriend Hannah Quinlivan was absent on the first night of the concert (Dec 17). She was spotted at the concert on Dec 18.
After the concert, the media saw her dining at a nearby night market. The model, who is a Kaohsiung local, was familiar with the night market and had bought three bags of food and drinks.
When reporters asked how Jay fared at the concert and if she showed him around, Hannah lowered her head and did not comment. The media pressed on, asking if she was returning to the hotel to share the food with her friends. The model left in a hurry, and headed home.
